Terms & Conditions
Last updated September 12, 2026
something based is currently in private testing. This page covers the basics of using the app and an honest safety notice, since the app connects you with people you may not have met before. It does not yet include a full limitation of liability, indemnification, or dispute resolution terms — those need attorney review before a public launch. Contact us with questions in the meantime.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Features that connect you with people nearby you don't already know — checking in, seeing who's free nearby, and match suggestions — are limited to users 18 or older, enforced both in the app and at the database level. You represent that the birth date you provide is accurate; it cannot be edited once set.
2. Your account
You sign in via Google. You're responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your Google account secure.
3. Meeting people in person
something based helps you find people nearby and suggests meeting them, including people you have not met before. Please read this section carefully:
- We do not run background checks, identity verification, or safety vetting of any kind beyond a self-reported birth date.
- Meeting anyone you connect with through the app — whether a match, a nearby stranger, or a friend of a friend — is entirely voluntary and at your own discretion.
- We recommend meeting in public places, telling someone else your plans, and using your own judgment before and during any in-person meeting.
- Blocking and reporting exist (see the Privacy Policy for how they work), but we cannot guarantee we'll catch or act on a bad actor before harm occurs.
4. Prohibited conduct
You agree not to:
- Misrepresent your age or identity.
- Harass, threaten, stalk, or attempt to circumvent a block.
- Use check-in or location features to track a specific person rather than to be discoverable yourself.
- File false reports as a form of harassment.
- Use the service for commercial solicitation outside any local-business features we explicitly offer.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or programmatically query the service, including to determine other users' locations beyond what the app's normal interface shows you.
Violating these terms may result in suspension or termination of your account, at our discretion.
5. Content and moderation
Blocking and reporting are described in the Privacy Policy. We may, but are not obligated to, review reported content or accounts, and may remove content or suspend accounts at our discretion.
6. Termination
You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete my account — this is immediate and irreversible. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
7. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app changes. If we make a material change, we'll notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
8. What this page doesn't cover yet
A complete Terms & Conditions document for an app like this normally includes a limitation of liability, an indemnification clause, warranty disclaimers, and a dispute-resolution/arbitration section — particularly given Section 3 above. Those sections require real legal drafting rather than a template, and are not included here yet. We'll update this page once that review is complete.
